Types of Lock Nuts

A lock nut is a kind of nut that can be self-locking by friction. To prevent this phenomenon, the lock nut was invented. The function of the lock nut is mainly to prevent looseness and vibration. The lock nut is a common nut product, which is often used in some key connections and is widely used. So what are the types of Nylon Insert Lock nuts?

Several common types of lock nuts

1. The first is to screw two identical nuts on the same bolt, and add a tightening torque between the two nuts to make the bolt connection reliable.

2. The second kind is a special Nylon Insert Locknut, which needs to be used with an anti loose gasket. The special jam nut is not a hexagon nut, but round. There are 3, 4, 6, or 8 notches on the circumference of the nut (depending on the size of the nut and the product series of the manufacturer). These notches are not only the focus of the tightening tool but also the clamping place of the bayonet of the jam pad.

3. The third method is to drill through threaded holes (generally 2, 90 distributed on the outer circle) from the outer circle surface to the inner circle thread surface of the nut to screw in small-diameter countersunk screws. The purpose is to apply a centripetal force to the thread to prevent the nylon Insert Lock nuts from loosening. For the lock nut with better quality sold in the market, a small copper block consistent with the thread of the lock nut is embedded on the inner circular surface of the nut to avoid the radial jacking screw from directly contacting the locked thread and damaging the latter. The Nylon Insert Lock nut is gradually applied in the shaft end locking of rotating parts, such as the anti loosening of the bearing at the mounting end of the ball screw.

4. The fourth kind of Nylon Insert Locknut is composed of two parts. Each part has staggered cams. Because the internal wedge design slope angle is greater than the nut angle of the bolt, this combination will bite tightly into a whole. When there is vibration, the convex parts of the lock nut will stagger with each other to produce lifting tension, to achieve a perfect locking effect.

5. The fifth is structural locking. Through the design improvement of the thread structure, a self-locking function is obtained without the help of other external factors. Therefore, its applicability is wider than the above methods and its requirements for the environment are relatively low. There are many kinds of lock nuts, such as Nylon Insert Locknuts and flange nuts. In short, this kind of lock nut plays a role in locking. Twist the nut onto the screw, bolt, etc. to ensure that it will not lose. So that they can be actively connected, making them firm and stable to a high degree.
